The workshop was established in 1955 by Bill Hall and Tom Burgess. They set the foundation for the business as a reliable, heavy engineering hub in Auckland, focusing on quality workmanship and solving technical problems that standard shops couldn't handle.

The shop’s reputation for niche expertise was solidified by the previous owner, Tony. His history with the company is a perfect example of the "apprentice-to-owner" pathway:

Tony started at Hall and Burgess as an apprentice under the original founders, eventually taking over the business and growing it into one of the most capable and diverse shops in the industry over 40 years.

Under his leadership, the business became known for incredibly high standards and a "no rework" philosophy. Tony was ready to shut up shop, unless the right person came along who could maintain its reputation.

Jaden joined the business as a qualified engineer with over a decade of experience in a diverse range of industries. With a genuine passion for engineering, he was stoked with the opportunity to take the reins.

The workshop currently operates with a small, highly experienced team of engineers who have been with the shop for decades, ensuring that the specialized knowledge from the 1950s and the Tony era remains on the floor.

Today, the shop is positioned as a specialized alternative to high-volume factories, focusing on custom engineering work and high-quality standards that reflect its long history and expertise.
